Intro. To Spanish:

This course is designed to introduce the Spanish language and many cultures of the Spanish-speaking world, including Spain and Latin America.  Instruction focuses on your gaining proficiency in Spanish through all four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing! We will use the Spanish level 1 textbook and workbook ¡Exprésate!  If you are successful in this course through middle school you will go directly into Spanish 2 in 9th grade.  Your goal should be proficiency in Español.  ¡Sí se puede!

MYP Criteria:   Oral Communication (speak & listen),  Visual interpretation (read & speak about visual text), Reading Comprehension,  Writing. 

Spanish 1B (8th grade):​

The course is designed to continue your Spanish 1A experience-- by further developing your language proficiency and learning about more cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.  Instruction focuses on learning Spanish through action:  Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing!  You will check out and use daily the Spanish level 1 textbook ¡Exprésate!

MYP Criteria:   Oral Communication (speak & listen),  Visual interpretation (read & speak about visual text), Reading Comprehension,  Writing. 

Humanidades en Español (Humanities in Spanish- Immersion):

Bienvenidos a la clase de las humanidades en español.  El propósito de esta clase es dar estudiantes que ya hablan español (como lengua materna o segunda lengua) la oportunidad de enriquecer sus habilidades en español a través de los estudios sociales/culturales.  No es suficiente solamente entender y hablar de nuestro país en español.  Tenemos que escribir y leer varios temas de nuestra patria también.  ¡Podemos usar estas habilidades para influir y mejorar nuestro hogar Los Estados Unidos!

MYP Criteria: Conocimiento y comprensión ( Knowledge and Understanding), Investigación ( Investigation), Comunicación ( Communication),   Pensar criticamente (Thinking critically).
